MINI
This Mini is sporting what I would call a nearly full race 1400cc lump. It has a SPVP4 David Vizard/APT cam timed in at 101, working the 30/35mm vales with Iskenderian springs and Windsor 1:5 roller tipped rockers, all bolted onto a standard 12G940 1805 head. This is breathing through a 45 DCOE webber and back out through an LCB with single RC40 side exit exhaust. The ignition system has a Lucas spots coil and a standard 23D4 S distributor sitting at 4 static. This helps push down the 74mm Omega race pistons on 1275GT rods and a standard crank held in with a steel center strap. The drop gears are standard going onto an ultra lightweight steel flywheel through an orange plate and race diaphragm with a S backplate and into the 3 Sync. straight cut gearbox with a 4 pinion 3.4 diff.

The 45 webber at present has 170 mains on F2 emulsion tubes with 200 air correctors. The idle jets are 40 F9 with a pump jet of 50, the choke size is 38 along with 3.5 aux. venturi. This set up allows a smoth enough drive in traffic. I think it is still running rich at idle which also upsets the progression, but is hard to tell with a cam that has 295/290 duration and god knows what overlap! It will rev out to 8k no problem through the gears but in top I cant get much more than 6250, this is maybe down to the 3.5 aux. venturis just not getting enough juice to the engine!! |

In the David Vizzard book there is a profile on the cam which I am using with much the same engine setup. He was able to achive 130bhp at the flywheel! But as I am running a standard 1805 head and a short reach inlet manifold I am going to give it in and around 100bhp, which will do me nicely.

The rest of the car is all 70's spec, apart from the tyres which are Yok's A032R's and the Cobra Bucket Seats. I also have a home made 3 point immobiliser which kicks in as soon as you turn the engine off. The dash board is the original oval but has been modified as you can see below!
